Kartra review: what it offers, is it worth it, & more

If you want to simplify your online business with an all-in-one software, Kartra is the software solution you’ve been looking for. In this article, I’ll share my honest Kartra review so you can decide if it’s right for you.

Kartra has been a part of my little black book of tech since 2019, when I was creating my membership – and I haven’t looked back since! At the time, I had been using Thinkific and Mailerlite, which are great platforms, but Karta’s all-in-one capabilities have been a game changer. Karta has increased the profitability of my business and has provided ease in my reporting and day-to-day.

Below, I’ll discuss what I use Kartra for, how it can help your business, and the pros and cons. I’ll also answer common questions about Kartra so you can know all there is to know before choosing the best software for your business.

What is Kartra?

Kartra is an all-in-one marketing platform with various tools for selling products or services online. Through Kartra, you can build a website, manage sales, automate emails, create online courses and memberships, and more. Kartra lets you build and maintain your online business in one place without needing multiple platforms and memberships.

How I use Kartra

I use most of Kartra’s useful and amazing features, including email management, course creation and sales, surveys and applications, calendar and scheduling, and video hosting.

Email management

One of my favorite features of Kartra is its email marketing tool. I love that it prioritizes email deliverability, which helps with my open rates. Best of all, when someone purchases a product, I no longer have to manually add them to my email list because Kartra does it for me.

Kartra’s email automation also lets you:

  • View advanced analytics
  • Do A/B testing
  • Send unlimited emails
  • Segment your audience
  • Create unlimited trigger rules
  • Write emails with templates
  • Make forms for email sign-up
  • View advanced analytics
  • And more

Create and sell e-products and programs

The primary reason I signed up for Kartra was to create and sell products and programs, including online courses, membership sites, and webinars. I love just how easy Kartra makes it to create, sell, and host without having to sync multiple software together.

I use Kartra for all my course portals – from mini-programs to larger online courses. It’s also the hub for my Mastermind. Kartra lets you create beautiful course portals and webinars, drip course lessons, and track analytics.

Another of my favorite Kartra features is the ‘Portals,’ which lets you combine several courses in groups. Then, you can adjust how you want people to see that. For example, they can either see all the courses with a locked symbol on the ones they haven’t purchased yet, or they can only see the courses they own.

Check out a few of our online course portal designs:

Surveys and mastermind applications

You can create surveys and applications with Katra’s Growth and Professional plans. This feature isn’t included in the Starter plan.

I use this feature for my Mastermind Applications, intake surveys, and program completion surveys. These also sync into my lead/customer profile, so I can easily see everything in one place.

I also create surveys in Kartra (like tick boxes) and embed them into my courses to leverage random rewards and gamification into the experience. When course-takers complete the survey, it’ll initiate a tag in the system that can then do things like unlock different modules and send congratulation emails.

Calendar and scheduling

Kartra’s calendar feature makes appointment scheduling easy. The calendar allows you to set available times and days for one-off, recurring, or multi-day events or meetings. You can also scale with unlimited hosts.

It’s also easy to embed your calendar into any webpage, membership, or pop-up. It also adjusts for various devices and browsers, including mobile, tablet, and computer.

As you can see below, I use Kartra to let prospects book a meeting time in my calendar. There’s also a payment feature, which I use for those who want to book a paid intensive call.

Videos and file hosting

Videos are an effective way to increase sales and engage your audience. Kartra’s user-friendly software is perfect for beginners or professionals to create customizable videos.

Kartra lets you embed videos into your web page, load them through pop-ups, and include them in your programs. You can host and stream unlimited videos, optimize for every device and browser, create videos with control, and more.

I upload so many videos to Kartra for my courses, sales, and promotions and the functionality is simply awesome. I can have pop-ups appear halfway through the video, inject lead capture forms, and tag as much as I need to.

Other Kartra features

Kartra has many other excellent features I’ve dabbled in or don’t use yet, including the following.

Funnels and campaigns

A funnel is a structured framework to meet your target audience where they are and is essential for turning leads into customers or clients – and Kartra makes this easy. You can use Kartra to build pages and marketing funnels in minutes.

Kartra offers landing page templates, done-for-you campaigns, lead capture pages, opt-in pop-ups, and more.

I’ve used the funnel feature some and plan to start using it more. Although my funnel isn’t active yet, you can see how helpful the visual layout is:

Landing pages and websites

Kartra’s feature for landing pages and websites is just as good as a traditional website platform – and I’ve worked in them all, both for myself and with clients.

The only reason I don’t use Kartra for my landing pages and website is because I’m a diehard fan of Thrive Themes for my WordPress website. However, I had a great experience using Kartra for sales and other landing pages for my entire Black Friday campaign.

Kartra’s landing page and website software lets you:

  • Choose from over 500 professionally designed templates
  • Customize pages with drag-and-drop functionality
  • Streamline checkout pages
  • Include pop-ups
  • See comprehensive analytics

Kartra pros and cons

While my five-star Kartra review is thanks to all of its pros, it also has cons like any other marketing software. As someone who has been in online business for more than 10 years, if I have one piece of advice, it’s that you will waste so much time trying to find the perfect software because it doesn’t exist. But Kartra is pretty close!

Kartra review: pros and cons

Kartra pros:

  • All-in-one capabilities – The freedom of having courses, email marketing, and sales features all in the same place significantly reduces my mental load.
  • Easy tracking – Kartra has analytics for everything, which allows for easy launch debriefs, understanding prospects before discovery calls, and mapping out customer behavior
  • Sales support – With a priority on sales – which we all want! – Kartra allows bump offers on the payment portal, links to other programs through courses, and A/B testing with emails and products.
  • Email deliverability Kartra maintains its reputation for excellent email service with tools for customers to meet email authentication requirements.
  • Cloning abilities – You can clone just about anything on Kartra, including products, memberships, pages, surveys, and entire campaigns – which is a huge time saver. Then, you can make minor tweaks if needed.
  • Customer service – You can set up a 24/7 helpdesk feature for your courses to allow your students or clients to get support as needed. As a creator, the email support is also helpful, and you’ll usually get a response within 24 hours.

Kartra cons:

  • No mobile app for clients/students – Although there’s been talk of one coming, there’s currently no app for course takers to log in to their portal.
  • Doesn’t support multiple currencies – If you only charge in one currency, this shouldn’t be an issue for you. However, I offer the option for clients to pay in USD and AUS, so I have to use Thrivecart in addition to Kartra

Kartra cost

As of early 2025, Kartra’s costs between $99 and $429 per month, depending on your plan. There are three plan options: starter, growth, and professional. You can pay monthly or save up to 22% by paying annually.

Overall Kartra review

I love Kartra, and it’s one of the best investments in my business! The freedom to have everything in one place is a huge relief – from email automation and campaigns to courses and memberships.

Unlike any other software, Kartra also has advanced analytics and sales features, including countdown timers on pages, AB testing, and bump offers on products.

If you’re a coach, consultant, or other service provider that offers coaching, courses, or memberships, Kartra is the ideal platform!

Kartra review: FAQs

Learn more about Kartra with answers to common questions below.

What’s better than Kartra?

I think Kartra is the best all-in-one platform, but other alternatives you might consider are Thinkific or Podia.

What is Kartra used for?

Kartra is an all-in-one platform that runs all parts of your online business, including email, sales funnels, marketing campaigns, and online courses and other programs. With so many features, you can use it for almost everything in your business.

What does Kartra replace?

Kartra can replace your email, website, course, video, and sales software.

What is the difference between Kartra and Kajabi?

The primary difference between Kartra and Kajabi is that Kartra lets you do more to run and scale your business.

Kajabi only lets you create courses and other programs, build landing pages, and send emails. Kartra allows you to do this plus so much more – plus its features are incredibly user-friendly and reliable.

Personally, I choose Kartra over Kajabi for many reasons, including the following:

  • Kajabi’s page builder isn’t flexible – It can do some of what you need, but there are a lot of limitations on page layout and design, which impacts business profitably
  • Kajabi’s starter package isn’t nearly as valuable – For Kartra, you pay $119 for unlimited products, memberships, funnels, calendar booking campaigns, and more.
  • Kajabi isn’t built for funnels and sales – Like Thinkific, it’s primarily a membership/course portal first software. Meanwhile, Kajabi is truly an all-in-one software.
  • Kajabi’s email deliverability is poor – My clients will often find that their email deliverability suffers when they use Kajabi’s email CRM – an issue I never have with Kartra.

Can I sell physical products on Kartra?

Although Kartra is primarily for digital products, you can sell physical products with shopping cart features, payment processors, and the ability to collect shipping information.
